Erik Erikson
Erik Erikson( 1902- 1994) developed stages of psycho social stages.
Background
Erikson is a German born psychoanalyst who is influenced by Freud. Despite the lack of a bachelor's degree Erikson worked at Harvard and Yale and came up with the seven stages of development and coined the term 'identity crisis' .

According to Erikson, the ego develops as it successfully resolves crises that are distinctly social in nature. These involve establishing a sense of trust in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and helping the next generation prepare for the future

Erik Erikson and Margaret Mead
His theories agreed with Margaret Mead's theories. There was a period of development which both Mead and Erikson called a 'psychological moratorium' in which they believed that adolescents need a period of time without any reward to develop skill and creativity.
